RELATIONSHIP-BASED PRACTICES:

We at therahealth believe in the powerful effects of relationship-based practices in the learning of our students. We have seen, in our years of practice, the positive outcomes in our students’ overall progress when we see the child holistically and teach them with compassion. When we start with building rapport with our students, we gain their trust and naturally establish our authority as secondary caregivers and educators. These two make up for a strong learning foundation.

BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT:

We aim to focus on reinforcing positive behaviors and reducing or eliminating occurrence of maladaptive behaviors by a.) modeling positive behaviors b.) introducing procedures and establishing routines in the classroom c.) setting clear expectations d.) seeing every behavior as a form of communication and e.) showing respect and fairness to the individual child.

PLAY-BASED APPROACH:

Play is every child’s occupation - this is why we strive to make learning fun! We make it a point that every SPED session is an opportunity for our students to be exposed, to explore, and experience because that’s the best way they can acquire knowledge and build on their skills so they can grow up as confident, independent, and self-regulated individuals.

EDUCATION

Our SPED Teachers cater to toddlers, school-aged children, and teens with special needs together with their families to equip them with Language, Socio-Emotional, Cognitive, and Self-help Skills necessary for their daily living, Education, and Community Involvement so they can effectively and independently be integrated across various settings and activities. The SPED Teachers also provide Behaviour Management Techniques to assist these students and their families so they can function more efficiently and with ease in their day-to-day living.
